Mistakes to Avoid Before Hiring a Coach

If you believe that the best or only way to achieve your goals is to do it yourself, you have Lone Ranger Mentality. Do you think that reaching out to someone, exceptionally a professional, implies that you aren't good enough? That it means you're incompetent and not intelligent, firm, or good enough?

Let me assure you that the people who come to coaching are all of these things and more. They are competent, intelligent, strong, and a whole lot more. They choose to coach because they are ready to accelerate their personal or professional lives and work with a professional who will help them achieve their goals more quickly, efficiently, and effectively than they could on their own.

A coach will assist you in discovering your true self, identifying your goals, and prioritizing those goals. Your coach will assist you in developing your action plan and preparing for and overcoming any obstacles that arise along the way. Your coach will hold you accountable for consistently taking action toward the achievement of your goals. One of the most significant benefits of coaching is accountability. It is so effective because it can mean the difference between you being a Goal Achiever rather than just a Goal Setter and someone who walks the walk rather than just talking the talk. Consider your coach to be your success partner, whose sole purpose is to assist you in achieving your goals faster, easier, and with better results than you could on your own.

Congratulations if you believe your life is going well and you are relatively content. That did not happen by chance. You've done some fantastic work. You've already demonstrated that you're the type of person who goes after what they want and gets it. So why would you settle for less than the best? Why would you live in black and white when you could live in technicolor? Do you want to be safe and comfortable? Playing it safe and staying comfortable will only get you so far.

The majority of our clients are already highly successful. They tell us that now that they've personally experienced the power of coaching, they realize how much less they were settling for, for themselves and their lives. They were paying for good when they could have had great. These clients also tell us that coaching has improved the quality of their lives in various ways, ranging from increased sales to improved relationships and from better health to increased productivity. They experience, for many of them for the first time, the sensation of being fully and vibrantly alive.

As a result, we challenge those of you who have settled. We challenge you to stop paying for satisfactory results. With coaching, we challenge you to go for GREAT and beyond.

Do you have unfulfilled dreams or desires because you can't imagine bringing them to life without adding a lot more to your already overburdened schedule?

You might be surprised to learn that coaching can help you be more, do more, and have more by working smarter rather than harder. Your coach will guide you through a smooth process. You'll start by being very clear about what you want and don't want in your life. What's great about this is that once you identify the things in your life that you're tolerating or doing simply because you think you should, you can free up a lot of time in your schedule to focus on the things that are truly meaningful you. Following that, you'll create an action plan outlining what you'll need to do, when you'll need to do it, and how you'll do it. Finally, you'll stay focused and on track by holding yourself accountable to your coach for consistent action, and you'll learn how to overcome any obstacles that arise along the way.

Do you ever wish that other people were different, that they were easier to get along with, that they were more optimistic, that they were more successful, that they were more trustworthy, that they were more kind? Or do you find yourself fantasizing about how your life would be different if you had a better job, more money, more time, or more opportunities? Are you telling yourself that these external factors are to blame for what isn't working in your life or that you can't have what you want?

It's easy to become engrossed in this paradigm. However, if you are looking for or expecting something outside of yourself to change and give you what you want, you will be waiting and frustrated for a very long time.

This is because you have no control over anything outside of yourself. You do, however, have complete control over yourself. You have full control over your thoughts, actions, and outcomes.

When you make a committed decision to do the things that will move you in the direction of what you want to experience in your life, and then do them, your circumstances will change. Hiring a coach is one of the wisest decisions you can make to ensure you take control and create the reality you desire.

The Third Biggest Mistake - Wasting your time and money on things that don't produce the desired results and are ultimately unsatisfying.

Let's face it: there are an infinite number of ways to spend your hard-earned money and valuable time these days. When you know you want things to be different or better, you can easily waste your time and money in one of two ways.

The first is to invest time and money in gathering information in books, software, seminars, reports, or programs. You are gathering information that you believe will assist you in obtaining your desired outcome.

Don't get me wrong: information is a beautiful thing. We believe that books and programs are essential tools for getting where you want to go, but we want to be clear about one thing.

You will not get results if you only have information. You can't expect your sales to automatically increase just because you read the latest book by the Guru of Sales, and you can't expect your monthly expenses to automatically organize themselves just because you bought the newest expense tracking software. Only by taking consistent action toward achieving your goals based on what you've learned from the information you've gathered will you achieve satisfying results.

The second way you could be squandering your time and money is by acquiring and participating in things that have nothing to do with and even work against, having what you truly desire.

Have you ever gone a month without exercising and giving in to every food craving you had, despite your deepest desire to achieve and maintain healthy body weight and lifestyle? Have you ever gone out and bought an expensive gadget you didn't need or couldn't afford when what you wanted was to feel successful and have financial freedom?

If this describes you, you know what it's like to be on the hamster wheel of short-term gain in the form of instant gratification, which leads to long-term pain because your life experiences don't match up with what you truly desire.

It's critical to understand that spending your time or money on things that provide instant gratification but have nothing to do with your goals and values will always leave you feeling empty. I'm entirely depleted and looking for the next quick fix.

Instead of squandering your time and money, why not invest in yourself to accelerate your personal and professional development? Working with a coach regularly is the most cost-effective and time-efficient investment you can make in yourself and your quality of life.

Your coach can show you how to make the most of what you have and accomplish more with less. Your coach will hold you accountable for consistently taking purposeful action toward your goals.

Working with a coach will help you figure out what you want, why you want it, and how to get it. Having clarity removes the guesswork from the situation. That way, you will be able to evaluate all future investment opportunities, including all options for you to spend your time or money, based on their ability to fulfill your purpose, vision, values, and goals.

The Second Biggest Mistake - Waiting for a "good" time to make a change or pursue what you truly desire in life.

There is no such thing as a good time. Life will always be hectic. There will always be family and business obligations to meet, errands to run, chores to complete, TV shows to watch, and people and projects vying for your time, energy, and money. Your life will always be busy, and if you let it, it will always get in the way of what you want.

Do you want to know what you can do about it? You can now stop deluding yourself. Today. Stop fooling yourself into thinking that the ideal time is just around the corner or sometime in the future. Instead, decide to team up with a professional who can teach you how to make the most of every moment, beginning right now.

Your coach will hold you accountable while keeping you focused and on track to achieve your goals regardless of what life throws at you.

The Biggest Mistake – Assuming you can't afford a coach.

You cannot afford not to have one. Coaches are in high demand these days because they have proven to be a highly effective method of facilitating personal and professional development and fulfillment.

The word is getting around; it's in the media, in corporations, and the community. The term is getting out that coaching makes sense and works. The results of studies on the impact of coaching have consistently shown a return on investment of more than 100 percent.

Coaching clients from all walks of life consistently report the best money they have ever spent because their investment in a long-term coaching partnership allows them to achieve their goals. What's more, coaching will enable them to achieve their goals faster, easier, and with better results. Now consider that for a moment. Consider what that means for you. Through the medium of coaching, you can get anything you want faster, easier, and with better results.

If you're still unsure, consider this: saying you want things to be different isn't enough. The mere desire for something does not make it so. It would be best if you made a decision and then took deliberate action to achieve your goals. When you put your money where your mouth is and invest in a coaching program, you demonstrate your commitment to achieving your goal while eliminating any possibility other than total success.
